JOY Card

Again another clean and simple card, this one was really easy to do.

I started off making a poinsettia in red paper using the Sue Wilson Poinsettia die set.  This is going to by my ‘O’ in JOY.
I then used a ‘J’ and a ‘Y’ from a big alphabet set of dies, and on a card panel, I put the poinsettia flower in the middle then spaced the two other letters out until they looked right in spacing, and then cut those out with my die machine.

I put some craft foam onto the back of the card panel, and then found a couple of scraps of Christmas paper and put them on the card base, so that you can see it through the ‘J’ and the ‘Y’.  I mounted this all on a red card base. And that was it finished.  Pretty easy one this time.  You could turn this into a shaker card with the two outside letters if you wanted to.

I’m starting to second guess myself with all these Clean and Simple cards, is it getting a little boring for my watchers.  I will have to try and do at least one that is a bit more fancy!  I think it is a phase I am going through at the moment with my card making, so it has just overflowed into my Christmas Cards.  Usually I do really fancy ones!

I have a video of making the card.

Blended Snow Scene with Christmas Star Card

This Christmas Card is a lovely clean and simple one.  When I first started my You Tube channel I did a card, which I thought was quite simple, and to date, it is one of my most watched and commented on cards.  It was quite similar, but instead of using masking and dies like I am with this one, I used some stamps, and I made it into a shaker card bauble.  So I thought why not do something similar but make it simpler still!

So I cut a circle out of a piece of masking paper, and stuck the negative portion on my card front, and used the positive piece to cut out some tree dies.

I then stuck the tree masks down, with the smaller trees either side and the bigger one in the middle to be in the fore front.
I then used a variety of blue inks to do some blending.  Tim Holtz distress inks Tumbled Glass and Salty ocean, Catherine Pooler’s Something blue, and Altenew Sapphire.

Once I was happy with the blending, I sprinkled some water on it, waited a few seconds then dabbed it off, this was to resemble stars in the sky, but I wasn’t happy with that, so I ended up using a white and stardust Gelly Roll pen to draw some dots for stars.

I hand drew a Christmas star, because I don’t have a die in my stash.  I then coated it in some gold liquid pearls, several coats and the on the last coat while it was still wet, sprinkled some biodegradable glitter onto it, and left to dry.

In the meantime, I stamped a sentiment onto the card just under my blended circle and embossed that.  Then I just had to glue by star in the sky and that was the card completed

I have a video of making the card.

Christmas Bauble Shaker Card

Goodness it has been a while since I made a shaker card, I have to remember how to do them!
I got a card panel, that I have cut out with a stitched rectangle die, and cut out 3 circles staggered down the card panel with the snowflake die from the Impression Obsession Christmas die set.

I then stuck plastic strips behind them, and then put some double sided tape all the way around the die cuts, then added a piece of craft foam, that I had cut circles of where the baubles are, to the back of the panel.  I then put double sided tape on the back of the craft foam all around the circles again to make sure it will stick and seal perfectly.

I then filled the 'baubles' with some red glitter and sequins and then covered those with some pieces of christmas paper that had red stars on it.  This seals off the shaker portions so that the card panel can be flipped over and stuck to the card base.

I used a larger Christmas sentiment but only wanted to use the 'Merry Christmas' part of it, so I masked off the part I didn't want to use, then inked the stamp, took off the masking and stamped the sentiment onto the top right corner of the card.

I have used a memory box snowflake die which has a bow to cut 3 bows out of gold foil card.I used some really thin foil tape (usually used in nail art that I had) but you could use thin strips of foil card, ribbon or even thread to do this, to be the strings of each bauble, then stuck the bow down just above each bauble.

You could do this with any bauble dies you have, you would just need to cut out a circle that was slightly smaller than the outside of your die, and mount that onto your card front.

Use what you have got, be creative, you certainly don’t have to use the exact dies I have.

I have a video of making the card.

Craft foam sheet
Memory box snowflake die for bow
Cutter Bee scissors
Double sided tape

Nuvo deluxe adhesive
Nail art foil strip rolls
red sequins and glitter

I hope you enjoyed this card and have got some ideas for your own Christmas cards.

Recessed Snowflake Card

This card I am using one snowflake die, which I particularly like for its detail, but just use whatever you have.

I cut out a snowflake in gold foil card.  I then stuck some craft foam to a card panel I had cut out with a rectangle die, and cut the die out again, slightly in from the edge, popped out the die cut to use on another project.  I then flipped over my front panel, and slotted the gold die cut upside down into the negative space, and put liquid glue over both negative and die cut.  I then flipped front panel over and placed that on my card base, centering it nicely.  I then used a pokie tool to push the gold die cut down in to the recessed portion of the negative space of the die cut front panel, so that it was glued down onto my card base.  This method seemed to work really well!

Finally I stamped a sentiment onto a scrap piece of card and put that onto the front card panel just below and over from the snowflake.

That is the card finished.  I wanted it to stay clean and simple.
You could do this with any snowflake dies, or even some other Christmas dies if you wished.  The possibilities are endless

I have a video of making the card.

Stenciled Cards = 3 cards

These cards turned out to a bit more of a mission than I thought, but in the end I made 3 cards.
I wanted to make two stencilled and foiled cards with the Kaisercraft stencil called Holly.

I used some deco foil transfer gel on a separate piece of card with a palette knife over the stencil and then foiled them with my Mink machine.  The green holly one turned out fine, but for some reason the poinsettia portion of the stencil oozed underneath the stencil, so looked awful when I foiled it.  I had several more goes, but with the same result…. Agggghh!
I think the stencil has a bit of a buckle in the plastic, so it just won’t sit flat.

Soooooo… I ended up using the same stencil and did inking through it, with a darkish red (Altenew Coral Berry) and that worked fine.

Then I decided instead of wasting the foiled ones that I had done, I cut out some of the better poinsettias out of the cards I had done, and stuck them all over a card panel.

To make up the three cards, I cut the bottom of the card panels on an angle, then mounted that onto my card front, stuck a strip of co-ordinating foil card along that and trimmed off the ends.

Then on another piece of scrap card, I cut the same angle and stamped my sentiment onto that, and stuck that to my card front.

Lastly on the inked stencilled card, I stuck some flat back white pearls into the centre of all of the poinsettias, and for the cut out foiled poinsettias, in between them, I put dots of liquid pearls dotted around the break the white spaces.

So three cards with a similar look but all done a little differently!  Sometimes when things go wrong, there is a way to selvage the card, you just have to think outside the square!

I have a video of making the card.
