2 Dream catcher cards

I have made two cards for Fat Cats Card Corner using this Marianne Craftables Dream Catcher die. My daughter Carissa, loves Dream Catchers, so I was thrilled when Kaaren from Fat Cats sent it to me.

This first card I kept very simple, I blended some Peacock Feathers distress ink onto the front of my card blending it out lighter at the bottom edge, but making sure it was darker at the top, then I flicked some water onto it and then dried it off with a paper towel to make some splotches and spatters.

Then I kept the dream catcher simple and cut it out of plain white card.  I think it really pops against the peacock feathers.  I then decided to put some patches of silver onto the dream catcher and feathers, so I put some blobs of the Cosmic Shimmer flake and glitter glue onto the different parts and let it dry.  The glue stays tacky, so the gilding flakes will stick to it. What I should have done, however, is brushed the glue on a little thinner, and it might have made the silver look a little flatter, how I did it, with the blobs, is that the silver came out a bit blobby!  Oh well, I know to do it differently next time.

I used some crystal gems and dazzlers to decorate the catcher and then stamped the sentiment with the Altenew Calligraphy Alpha stamp with versamark watermark ink and Ranger white embossing powder onto black card stock. I then cut out the sentiment with a fine border around the letters.

This second card, I decided to make into a shaker card.  I seem to have an obsession with the colours yellow and pink together at the moment, so I ink blended a piece of scrap card with Spun sugar and Squeezed lemonade distress inks with a mini ink blending tool to  create a coloured piece of card which I used to cut out my feathers.  The main part of the dream catcher was cut out of pink card and then glued onto a piece of acetate that had been glued onto the back of the white card that the dream catcher had been cut out of.
I then used fun foam to build up the back of the front panel so that I could make an area to put the shaker bits, and then sponged an area on the main card base with the two distress inks which was going to be behind the dream catcher shaker part.

I again used the same altenew stamp set to do the 'dreams' part of the sentiment and then used the computer to do the 'follow you' part as I didn't have a stamp to do it with.

Finally some beads to decorate the catcher and tops of the feathers and this card is finished.

Supplies I used to make the cards:
2 card bases 5" x 7"
A card panel the cut down to 4 3/4" X 6 3/4"
Scraps of white, black and pink card
Peacock feathers, Spun sugar & Squeezed lemonade distress inks
Ranger Ink Mini blending tool
Versamark Watermark ink
Ranger white embossing powder
Altenew Cotton Candy Crisp dye ink
Cosmic shimmer Flake and Glitter glue
Indigo blue Mega-Flakes - Sheffield Steel
Fun foam
Scrap of Acetate
A variety of sequins, gems, dazzlers and pearls

I hope these cards have given you some inspiration

MFT modern blooms top panel card with foiling

Hello, I have made another card using the MFT Modern blooms set, it is turning out to be a very versatile stamp set.

This time I have masked an area at the top of a piece of card and have stamped the flowers in just 3 colours and then masked them off and stamped the leaf stamps in the set, so they appear to behind the flowers.  Lastly I stamped the centre layer onto each flower with a darker coloured ink.  I cut this piece down to fit my card base, and then with a tombow glue pen I put dots of glue into the centre of the flowers and left to dry for about 15 to 20 minutes, and then with a strip of foil, the type that works with tacky glue, not the heat activated sort that you use in a minc machine, I rubbed the foil with the coloured side facing up onto the glue with my finger nail and where the glue was the foil stuck to it.

I then made another layer with a piece of card the same size as my card base, and die cut a stitched scallop border at the top.  I then tied a flat knot with a piece of gold ribbon and folded then ends over behind this panel and stuck it down with some double sided tape.  I then stuck this whole panel onto the stamped panel with double sided tape so that the scallop just sat at the bottom of the stamped area.  I stamped the sentiment with versafine onyx black ink and embossed it with Ranger clear embossing powder with the heat tool.
This panel was then stuck to the card base again with double sided tape.  And that is the card finished.

I also made two other cards using the same stamp set and foiled the centres of the flowers.  This first one I did the stamping over the whole panel just with 3 shades of blue ink and then backed the panel with some blue card and mounted it  asymmetrically onto the card base.

This last one, I masked the top panel with painters tape, but this time instead of being the top, I masked an area just below the top, where I wanted a sentiment to be, and then stamped the flowers above and below the masked area, again foiled the centres of the flowers, and then made a strip to go on top that had a small scallop top and bottom and the sentiment stamped in the middle, and then this was mounted on a piece of vellum and then onto the card.

So three different ways you can use the same stamp set, the same style of stamping and foiling, just in different positions on a card.

The supplies I used to make these card were:
Altenew Crisp ink Cotton Candy and Warm Sunshine, caramel toffee, Frayed leaf & forest glades.
Stampin' up Raspberry Ripple dye ink
Mauve pigment ink cube, blue pigment ink cube (sorry don't know brand)
Versacolor pigment ink cube violet & Opera pink & royal blue
Adirondack dye ink in Raisin and Denim
Tombow quick glue pen
Gold foil (for glue)
Paper Xtra Sentiment stamp
Kaisercraft Save the date stamp set
Memory box stitched Country borders
Gold ribbon
Versafine Onyx black ink pad
Ranger Clear embossing powder
Heat tool
Double sided tape
Scissors
Vellum offcut
Scrap blue card
3 card bases 5 X 7 inches
3 front panels 5 X 7 inches
1 scrap piece of white card

I hope this gives you some inspiration, these cards can be made with any of the flower building stamp sets or even any of the flower sets that have a variety of smaller flower stamps.

Two cards Onesie stamp

At the same time that I purchased the Petite Plushies 1st birthday stamp set, I decided to buy the smaller Little Onesie set by Clearly besotted too, as I thought it would be helpful in making baby cards.  So that is what I have used for these two cards

To do the boys card, I used the Creative Expressions Polka dots mask and stencilled some blue and mauve inks with a stencil brush. I then cut out two stitched circles, one in vellum and 1 in white card that was slightly smaller.  I stuck the white circle to the vellum circle and then glued this to the card with a circle of fun foam between the vellum and the card topper.  I trimmed a tiny bit off the edge.  I stuck some blue patterned paper down the folded edge of the card base and then die cut the left hand edge of the polka dot background with a Cheery Lynn border die and stuck that down onto the card base, showing a bit of the striped paper.  The Onesie was stamped onto some chevron patterned paper that I had adhered to some cardboard with some double sided paper, to make it more substantial, the 'precious' sentiment is from the Onesie stamp set also, this was done on a strip of black card with ranger white embossing powder.  The 'baby' sentiment was cut out 4 times with blue card and then glued on top of each other.  Some white iridescent and clear sparkling PPP sequins to finish it off and that is the boys card.

The girls card is done very similarly but instead of stitched circle dies, I cut two tags, one from white card and the other from pink and mauve baby patterned paper.  I put some pink and white bakers twine through the hole of both tags, and finishing it off with a pink button.  I decided the pink spotted paper was a little plain, so I put a thin strip of iridescent white adhesive backed tape down the edge of the topper to break it a little

These were both quite quick cards to put together but using quite similar supplies.

The list of supplies I have used making these cards are:
Memory Box Baby sentiment die
Clearly besotted Little Onesie stamp
Cottage Cutz stitched circle dies
Paper Artist 10 tags and trims die set (second largest tag)

Hummingbird Watercolour card

Hello, today I am doing a water colour card, and using the Stampendous Hummingbird stamp set.

I decided to keep it simple, as I was joining the challenge that Kathy Racoosin at The Daily Marker is doing called the 30 day challenge.  She is encouraging everyone to try and do some colouring at least 5-10 minutes a day.  This can be any type of colouring, and you can colour anything you like. It could be a stamped image, something out of a adult colouring book or anything you like.  You can also use whatever medium you want to, this could be alcohol markers, colouring pencils, water colour or anything else you like to use.  It is such a therapeutic and relaxing thing to do, and when our days get so crazy, it is a little bit of time you can do something for just you, and enjoy doing something creative.

So this is the card I have done for my colouring today.

I have stamped the flower and one of the hummingbirds from the Stampendous stamp set with versamark watermark ink, and the embossed it with Ranger white embossing powder.

I have then used by Stabilo 68 water based pens to scribble a bit of colour onto the petals and leaves and then used the water brush pen to pull out the colour to the rest of the petal or leaf.  Once I had a wash on all of the parts of the stamp, I left it to dry and then came back and put another layer onto the top of the wash, to give it more dimension and shading.

Finally I went around the flowers, leaves and hummingbird with a grey wash for the background.

I also did another version of the card, but stamped the images with versafine onyx black ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder which gave a completely different effect.  With this second card, I also used a turquoise blue to do the background instead of grey.

The materials I used for these cards was:
Stampendous Hummingbird stamp
Ranger white and clear embossing powders
Versamark watermark ink
Versafine onyx black ink
Ranger watercolor paper 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheets cut down
Stabilo 68 pens in cerese, yellow, orange, dark red, light green, green, grey, teal, blue, turquoise, tan
Kuretake water brush
paper towel
Card base 5 1/2 x 7 3/4
white fun foam
double sided tape
Scissors.

I hope you will check out the 30 day challenge at The daily marker, she has all the information on her blog on how to join the challenge.

Happy card making

MFT modern bloom thanks card

Today's card and video were a bit late coming this time.  I have been quite sick, first getting a heavy cold that went straight to laryngitis and a horrible cough that I haven't been able to throw, it has been 2 and a half weeks, and I have still not got my voice back completely, but I am definitely better than I was.

The card is a simple but pretty card with some stenciling and then some flowers fussy cut out and placed in an arrangement.

I used a Kaisercraft 12 x 12 stencil and blended some distress inks onto a card topper
with 3 colours that I think go beautifully together, wilted violet, peacock feathers and picked raspberry. I stamped a sentiment with versafine onyx black ink and embossed it with ranger clear embossing powder with my heat tool.  I then die cut a border at the bottom of the topper and put a piece of pink striped paper on the bottom of the card base and then stuck the topper onto the card base with some pink fun foam for a bit of dimension.

The thanks sentiment die is a poppy die, which I cut 4 times, the last time I kept the die in the negative part, popped some removable tape on the back to hold it in place while I inked the bottom of the sentiment with some picked raspberry distress ink and faded it out to give an ombre effect.

The flowers are using the MFT modern blooms flower building set, which turned out to be a bit bigger than I thought they would be, I should have bought the mini set I think, but it was fine for this card.  I stamped them in their different layers with a range of dye, distress and pigment inks that I had, fussy cut them out and arranged them on my card.

Finally a scattering of Pretty pink posh clear sparkling sequins and some white iridencent sequins for a bit of sparkle and that is the card finished.

I can see this stamp set will be quite versatile for quite a few different looks on cards.  I am sure you will see more cards using it in future.

Here is a list of all the supplies I used in making this card
