Alcohol Ink background with lift-off technique - Fail?

This card I had a go at something completely different for me. I have seen quite a few videos and card makers that I watch regularly do some backgrounds and use them in cards, they look so vibrant and cool I decided I would get some and have a go!
For this card I am using some greens and teals, so I went ahead and did a background using 3 different green/pool colours and some blending solution on some yupo paper.  This wasn't hard, I enjoyed the process of trying dabbing the ink with a felt blending tool and also having a go at blowing through a straw.  I built up a few layers until I was happy with it.  I also used some teal foil to rub a little foil onto areas of my background.
The next thing I wanted to do, was use a lift-off ink and the Altenew Leaf clusters stamp set and do a border of the leaves, so that they appeared to be paler that the rest of the background.
This is where I felt I failed, and I think it is going to take some more practice to nail this technique.  I ended up doing the lift off twice to get it to contrast enough to the background, and also that lift off ink and alcohol ink is hard to get off the stamps!

In the end I got a good enough effect to make a man's card, I stamped out 'happy' and 'birthday' from the Letter it birthday stamp set and fussy cut the 'birthday' one and cut the 'happy' out to be a banner above it.
A few turquoise sequins around the sentiment finished it off.  Quite a simple card really.

I have a video of making the card.
