This card is similar to ones I have made in the past, using the glimmer paste and stencil in the background, but decided to revive the idea to use this new stamp I have purchased from Altenew called Dainty Bouquet.
I start with doing the stencil background so that can be drying while I do the stamping and sentiment. I tape a scrap piece of card down to a board with painters tape and then the stencil on top of that, marking with painters tape how far I want to do the stenciling so it will fit on my card base. I am using the Nuvo Glimmer paste called moonstone, this is pretty much clear but with iridescent glitter in it. This gives a pretty but subtle background to a card. Once I have done the stenciling I peel it off and wash that and my palette knife immediately in warm soapy water. I left the card still taped to the board so that it will dry as flat as possible.
I can now do my stamping of the layered stamp. The dainty bouquet has two large ‘bouquets’, for this card I am going to do just one of them. The suggestions and instruction sheets that are included with the stamp show to do the main stamp in a pale colour which then forms part of the shading of the main elements. In this case I did them with a pale grey, and then stamped the two other layers of the flower in puffy heart and purple wine, and two greens for the leaves and stalk and calyx of the flower. I purchased the coordinating dies for this stamp at the same time, I don’t usually but this one is quite detailed and I also thought I would use a cut out version quite often on cards, so thought it was justified this time. They cost so much to get stamps and dies here in New Zealand so I can’t usually afford to get both, much as I would like to. So I cut out the bouquet with the die and will put that on my card alongside a sentiment I had stamped and cut out. I mounted these with foam tape. I put a final scattering of white iridescent sequins around the flower stamp and that is the card finished. Clean simple but pretty.
I have a video of how I made this card, or if you prefer to watch it on my YouTube video you can go here.
The materials I have used for this card are:
White card base 5” x 7”
Scrap card slightly bigger than the card base
Altenew Dainty bouquet stamp set and matching die set
Simon Says Stamp Sending and Wishing stamp
Altenew Crisp ink cubes Limestone, puffy heart, purple wine, Lagoon and Volcano Lake
Tim Holtz flourish layering stencil
Nuvo glimmer paste Moonstone
Palette knife
Painters tape
Old board
Versafine Onyx black ink
Ranger Clear embossing powder
Cutter bee scissors
Scissors
Double sided tape
Metal ruler
Craft knife
Scotch foam tape
White iridescent sequins
Nuvo deluxe adhesive
This card could be done with any flower stamp, any stencil and any sentiment or occasion, this is just to inspire you to do a similar card with what you already have, which is my main focus with my blog and you tube channel. I don’t believe in purchasing everything that is going, more and more, I prefer usually to look at what stamps and other products I already have and think of different ways to use them. In this case I did buy this new stamp and die, as I think it will be one I use a lot in many different ways, which I plan to show in the coming months. Happy Stamping
