Ombre emboss resist - water bottle inspiration.

This card was to show that you can get inspiration for card in all sorts of places.
My daughter recently bought this water bottle and I looked at the flower design on it and the ombre effect and thought I could make a card like this!

So I got a piece of Strathmore Smooth water colour paper a bit bigger than my card base, and I stamped some flowers and leaves all over it with versamark ink and white embossing powder.  I then did some 'filler' lines and small 'daisy' flowers with an embossing pen, so that I got an all over stamped effect, like the bottle has.  Once I had heat set all of the embossing, I used some Aquatini ink to ink blend from the bottom and fade it out towards the top, to give the ombre effect.

I then stamped a sentiment onto a scrap of white card, cut a strip of silver card to use as a banner for a sentiment.  The final touch was another single flower stamped out, and then coloured in with alcohol markers.  I also stuck a pretty pink posh clear droplet into the centre of the flower.

For a simpler version of this card, I stamped a strip rather than doing the whole card front.  I stuck that down onto my card base and then stuck a sentiment I had stamped and embossed then fussy cut out, onto the card part way across the panel with foam tape. Three clear droplets arranged above the sentiment finished it off.

So I guess what I am trying to show here, is there is inspiration to be found in all sorts of places.  In nature, in other products such as the water bottle.  I have a coffee mug with a lovely oriental look to it, that I have been wanting to do in a card at some stage, so just keep your eyes and imagination open to possibilities.

I have a video of making the card.
