Hummingbird Watercolour card

Hello, today I am doing a water colour card, and using the Stampendous Hummingbird stamp set.

I decided to keep it simple, as I was joining the challenge that Kathy Racoosin at The Daily Marker is doing called the 30 day challenge.  She is encouraging everyone to try and do some colouring at least 5-10 minutes a day.  This can be any type of colouring, and you can colour anything you like. It could be a stamped image, something out of a adult colouring book or anything you like.  You can also use whatever medium you want to, this could be alcohol markers, colouring pencils, water colour or anything else you like to use.  It is such a therapeutic and relaxing thing to do, and when our days get so crazy, it is a little bit of time you can do something for just you, and enjoy doing something creative.

So this is the card I have done for my colouring today.

I have stamped the flower and one of the hummingbirds from the Stampendous stamp set with versamark watermark ink, and the embossed it with Ranger white embossing powder.

I have then used by Stabilo 68 water based pens to scribble a bit of colour onto the petals and leaves and then used the water brush pen to pull out the colour to the rest of the petal or leaf.  Once I had a wash on all of the parts of the stamp, I left it to dry and then came back and put another layer onto the top of the wash, to give it more dimension and shading.

Finally I went around the flowers, leaves and hummingbird with a grey wash for the background.

I also did another version of the card, but stamped the images with versafine onyx black ink and embossed them with clear embossing powder which gave a completely different effect.  With this second card, I also used a turquoise blue to do the background instead of grey.

The materials I used for these cards was:
Stampendous Hummingbird stamp
Ranger white and clear embossing powders
Versamark watermark ink
Versafine onyx black ink
Ranger watercolor paper 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheets cut down
Stabilo 68 pens in cerese, yellow, orange, dark red, light green, green, grey, teal, blue, turquoise, tan
Kuretake water brush
paper towel
Card base 5 1/2 x 7 3/4
white fun foam
double sided tape
Scissors.

I hope you will check out the 30 day challenge at The daily marker, she has all the information on her blog on how to join the challenge.

Happy card making
