Wplus9 Modern peonies card

This card is using another of Wplus9's lovely stamps, this time the Modern peonies stamp set.  I have to admit, I was a bit daunted when it arrived in the mail, there were a lot of petals on the main image for the size of the stamp.  Gosh was I going to be able to manage the painting of it, as I had planned to do some no line water colouring?

Well I determinately stamped it with spun sugar and the leaves with shabby shutters distress inks, and made a start!

I was doing a fairly easy style of water colouring, by doing a wash of the spun sugar first, making sure I left some white space around the petals where there was no fold over of the petal, so that it would keep each petal separate, otherwise it would look like a big blob!  I nearly gave up at this point, as I didn't think it was looking very good at all!

But I persevered and started my second layer, which was with abandoned coral, I went over the areas on each petal where it would be in shadow from a petal on top of it, and worked my way over the whole flower, and in the end I thought it looked OK.

To use them on a card, I used a memory box stencil and stencilled the bottom of a card panel with nuvo glimmer paste, and once dry, I mounted it onto a card base.

I made a background using a smooching ink technique with squeezed lemonade and spun sugar distress inks to make a top panel with a stitched scalloped edge to it.

The sentiment is from the Wplus9 A kind soul stamp set.

The flowers were mounted with a combination of mounting foam and glue.

I am not sure if It looks alright with the smooshed ink background, or if I should have kept it simple and just used white card?

Here is a video showing how I made it.

The materials I used are:
Card base and two panels

Wplus9 A kind soul copic coloured birthday wishing card

This Wplus9 stamp is such a gorgeous stamp and is looking like it will be very versatile.  I always like that when I buy a stamp.  I always look to see if there are going to be multiple ways and mediums to use a stamp.

This one I decided to keep it simple and use it to do a border top and bottom and then colour it in with copics, and that would be pretty much it.

I am fairly new at using copics, I enjoy colouring, but I am by no means an expert.
I have used pretty much the only 4 colours of pink I have, three blues and three greens.  Then just a couple of browns and greys.

The sentiment is the Wishing and sending stamp set by simon says stamp.  I love the brush lettering of the wishing.  I think I will be using this stamp set a lot.

Here is a video of making this card.
