Baby rattle shaker card

I was kindly sent a Cheery Lynn shaker card kit from Fat cats card corner, and I have made a card and video using this kit.

The kit comes with everything you need to make the shaker portion.  It has the front and back die parts, the acetate, the foam sheets, the shaker material.  So all you have to do is choose what card you want for the back and front and go for it.

The card I am putting the shaker onto, is a white card base with a background paper that is done in a pink plaid pattern.  The 'quilt' pieces were made with the Couture creations scalloped square die and four different scraps of baby pink papers.  I went around the squares and the background paper with a sukura stardust gelly roll pen, which gives a subtle detail to the background.  Then I cut a white scalloped circle and a centre circle in another pink patterned paper, for the shaker part to go on.

I then made the shaker rattle but added a range of sequins to go with the shaker material that comes in the kit.  There are two sheets of shaker material.  One saying 'It's a girl' and one saying 'It's a boy'.

Finally the sentiment I used a Memory box scrip die and stacked three of the dies on top of each other to make a bit more substantial die and then stamped the daughter in silver and cut it out leaving a white border.  Finally a tiny satin bow and a little iridescent gem in the middle to finish the card off.

I get asked a lot for baby cards by my colleagues, so this one I think will be quite popular.

Here is the video showing how I made the card

Flower punch heart Valentine card

For this Valentine's card, I decided to drag out some older products that I haven't used in a while and do something a little different.  I am using an old heart die and some flower punches.  Its been a while using any punches, I tend to go for the dies now.

So this card I started off making the card base by doing some partial die cutting with a rectangle die to make a square front panel on a square card base.  I cut out a border with the Joanna Sheen signature border die, and trimmed it to fit the square panel.  I then cut out a heart die, this could be any heart die you have, I just happened to use the Nellie Snellen hearts and swan die that I have had for ages.  It has a pretty lacy edge to it.

Next I cut out a swag of sukura blossom punches and some tiny star flower punches and made up a lot of the main flower where I have stacked one of the tiny stars on top of the sukura flower.  I also made some of the tiny star flowers, which will be a filler for where the larger flowers don't meet.  Also cut out just a few of the tiny leaf sprigs to pop around the circumference of the heart.

Then I set to and filled up all the heart with the flowers, and left them to dry.  I went back and used the cosmic shimmer gold pearlised pva drops to fill in all the flower centres and left that to dry.  As an alternative you could use any of the liquid pearl type or nuvo drop products in whatever colour you wanted.  You could also use tiny seed beads or pearls instead, they would look great too.

Finally I made a banner and embossed the sentiment in gold embossing powder and raised it above the flowers with foam tape, added a organza bow, and that is the card finished.

Here is a video of how I made the card
